A MEETING ON THE AFTERNOON OF THURSDAY 12TH APRIL

The aim of the meeting: This will be to put together ideas for letters to the government and Professor Sir Simon Wessely and for a press release which advocate a human rights approach to current plans to reform the Mental Health Act.

Reason: At the moment, government plans for reform of the Mental Health Act seem to fall well short of the recommendations from the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to adopt a human rights model of disability and to bring detentions, substitute decision-making and enforced treatment to an end.

Who is organising the meeting: The National Survivor User Network (NSUN), in partnership with Inclusion London.

Who we hope will come: Representatives from User-Led Organisations, DPOs and their allies.

Date and time of the meeting: Thursday 12th April from 1.45pm to 4pm

Venue: WeAre336, 336 Brixton Road, London SW9 7AA.
